Privacy Policy

DevKit Labs is built to be private by default. This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to the data you put into our tools.
The short version
- Most tools run entirely in your browser. The text, files or values you enter are processed on your device and are never sent to us.
- A few network tools must use our server (see below) — those clearly say so on the page.
- We don't require an account, and we don't sell your data.
- Settings you choose (theme, favorites, a tool's last input) are stored only in your browser's local storage, on your device.
Client-side tools (the vast majority)
Formatters, converters, encoders, generators, calculators, the notepad, and the camera/microphone/ screen tools all run locally in your browser. Your input — including any files, images or media — never leaves your device and is never uploaded. Media tools ask your browser for camera/microphone/ screen permission; nothing is recorded or transmitted beyond what you download yourself.
Server-side tools (network lookups)
A small number of tools perform network operations a browser cannot do on its own — for example DNS, MX, SPF, DMARC and Whois lookups. These are clearly labelled on the page with a notice that they “run on our server.” For those tools:
- The value you submit (typically a domain name or IP address) is sent to our server so it can perform the lookup on your behalf.
- To resolve DNS-based records we use reputable public resolvers over encrypted DNS-over-HTTPS (Cloudflare, with Google as a fallback). Whois-style data is retrieved via public RDAP services.
- We do not require, request, or want personal information for these lookups — only the domain or IP you want to check.
- We do not sell or share your queries, and we don't build a profile from them. Requests may be briefly cached to improve speed, and transient operational logs (used to keep the service running and prevent abuse) are kept only short-term.
Prefer to keep even these lookups off our servers? A local desktop version that runs network lookups from your own machine is planned.
Local storage
We use your browser's local storage for conveniences like your theme choice, your list of favorite tools, and remembering a tool's last input so it's there when you return. This data stays on your device; clearing your browser data removes it.
Analytics & advertising
If and when we enable privacy-respecting analytics or advertising, we will update this policy to describe what is collected and how. Any advertising is served without requiring you to sign in.
