About Microphone Test — Check Your Mic

Check that your microphone works in seconds. Allow access and speak — the live level meter moves when your mic picks up sound, confirming it's connected and working. If you have several microphones, switch between them to find the right one.

Nothing is recorded or uploaded; the meter is computed locally and the mic is released when you stop. It's the quick way to test a mic before a meeting or call.

Frequently asked questions

Does it record my voice?

No. It only shows a live level meter to confirm the mic works — no audio is recorded, saved or uploaded.

The meter doesn't move — what's wrong?

Make sure you allowed microphone access, the correct mic is selected, and it isn't muted or in use by another app.

Can I choose which microphone to test?

Yes. If more than one input is available, a selector lets you switch between them.

Do you want to record audio instead?

Use the Voice Recorder tool to actually capture and download audio; this tool is only for checking the mic.
