Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you might want to know about DevKit Labs — how it works and how your data stays private.
What is DevKit Labs?
DevKit Labs is a free collection of fast, privacy-friendly developer and everyday utilities — formatters, converters, encoders, generators and more. Almost every tool runs entirely in your browser; a small number of network tools (like DNS and Whois lookups) run on our server, and those say so on the page.
Is DevKit Labs free to use?
Yes. Every tool is completely free, with no usage limits and no sign-up required.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There are no accounts, logins or paywalls — just open a tool and use it.
Is my data private? Does anything get uploaded?
For the vast majority of tools, yes — they process your input locally in your browser, so what you paste (API responses, config files, passwords, tokens) is never sent to a server. The only exceptions are network tools such as DNS, MX, SPF, DMARC and Whois lookups, which can't run in a browser: they send the domain or IP you enter to our server to perform the lookup, and they're clearly labelled. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Do the tools work offline?
Once a page has loaded, the tools run without a network connection because all processing happens in your browser. The site is also installable as a progressive web app (PWA).
Do you track or log what I enter?
No. The content you enter into a client-side tool is never transmitted, logged or tracked — it stays in your browser. The network tools (DNS, Whois, etc.) do send the domain or IP you look up to our server to run the query, but we don't sell those queries or build a profile from them.
Can I use these tools on my phone?
Yes. The site is fully responsive and works on phones, tablets and desktops, and can be added to your home screen as an app.
Why do most tools run in the browser instead of on a server?
Client-side processing is more private (your data never leaves your device), faster (no round trip to a server) and works offline. It's the core design principle here. A few tools genuinely can't work that way — a browser can't make a DNS query or open a raw network connection — so those run on our server and are labelled accordingly.
Which tools are available?
There are tools for converting data formats, encoding and decoding, formatting and validating code, generating IDs, passwords, QR codes and mock data, and a range of text utilities. Browse the full list from the sidebar or the home page.
