About Free Online Voice Recorder

Record voice or any audio from your microphone right in the browser. A live level meter shows your input while recording, and when you stop you can play the clip back and download it — no install and no account.

Recording uses the browser's MediaRecorder API and stays entirely on your device; nothing is uploaded. Great for quick voice notes, memos or capturing an idea.

Record and save

Frequently asked questions

Is my recording uploaded anywhere?

No. Audio is recorded and stored locally in your browser and only downloaded when you choose. Nothing is sent to a server.

What audio format do I get?

A WebM/Opus (or the browser's best-supported) audio file, which plays in modern browsers and can be converted to MP3 if needed.

Why does the level meter not move?

Check that the right microphone is selected and isn't muted, and that you allowed microphone access. The bar moves when sound is detected.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It works directly in the browser with no app or extension.
